Art is Nonbinary

Visibility of Genderqueer Identities in Art Institutions

Non-binary people exist—and yet they are still frequently rendered invisible. Patriarchal and discriminatory structures that produce this invisibility permeate society as well as artistic institutions. The installation creates a space in which non-binarity can be experienced in its diversity and established gender norms can be questioned. Inspired by plant forms, the fluid sculptures evoke the diversity of natural systems. As a safer space for trans* and non-binary individuals, the work creates an environment in which gender euphoria can be made visible and celebrated. Visitors are invited to become part of non-binarity.
